Mostly it has to deal with the auto trans in combination with a poorly designed y pipe. Well the numbers are 245 whp and 295 ft lbs. However this is in 90 degree weather vs 70 with my 1st dyno pull. Powerband has also shifted it levels off and does dip as with the stock y. They said if the weather was at better i could have 250 whp and 300 ft lbs.

I wouldn't put too much weight into Nupeprime's dyno differences. The low number was done in 97* weather vs. 64* weather for the high number. If the dyno was adjusted to SAE instead of STD, it would be a bit more accurate.

I finally found this from the other day. What i wanted to point out here is the dip in the Air/Fuel line on the chart. At around 4300 RPM you can see that it goes rich. Before this, we had leaned it out a bit. It was really dipping to somewhere like 10.8 and i was losing tons of power. Only getting to 228 to 2301-ish HP.

So we got it leaner a bit and the truck did better as you can see(241 WHP). But why is it still dipping around 4300?
I was running out of time on the Dyno that day so we called it good. But i left wondering if we could have done better.

I'm not too familiar with the Toyota ECU programming yet, but most modern ECU's have Cat overtemp protection in them that you can't override. It will automatically richen the fuel mixture in the upper rpm range to prevent the cats from over heating. I struggled with this on my car till we were finally able to turn that setting off in the tune.

We changed the correction factor on 1GRracer's, on his last dyno. From STD to SAE. The difference was a few hp. Point of that is, that you should always use the same correction factor for each dyno.

1GRracer's 4Runnemost recent dyno was now without any cats.

The nice thing about his new dyno pics, is that it shows his old file in STD factor. Yet the same graph of his on the first page is in SAE. So we get to see the difference between the two correction factors.

Aw man. Any chance he can get that dyno changed to SAE like the first one? Looks like an impressive gain though in much hotter temps.

This is just more info for my lastest dyno. I did it on Torspd's wheels and tires.

And I was curious how much they weighed compared to my wheels.
Well here are the results.
My wheels

Torspd's wheels.

My wheels weigh 59 pounds each and Torspd's come in at 65 each. That's a 6 pound difference for one wheel, 12 pounds for the drive wheels, and 24 pounds added to the total vehicle weight. Obviously this weight would effect the power, granted it is a small amount but still it goes to show the potential power that is to be achieved.

These engines pick up a good deal over stock form. That is what this thread is for. Showing the detailed gains.

Mod away my friend.

Awesome thread. I am still wondering why my torque is low... comparatively speaking

Get the URD Y-pipe! :top: :adore:

That will pick you up some more Dave. Plus, we need someone to break the 300 wtq mark on N/A.

I would love to be that guy! You really think it would add 25 lbs.? I was asking about the Y-pipe in another thread. But after reading more in this one i think it would make a difference despite what the local exhaust guy says. He is a good guy and does great exhaust work, but maybe he doesnt know about performance as much as he thinks he does. He said he could fab up a similar Y-pipe to the URD. For waaaaay cheaper though..... Hmmm....

Just cause that guy knows one vehicle, doesn't mean he knows another vehicle the same. Nothing against him though.

The proof is clear my friend. The 1GR responds EXTREMELY well breathing in and breathing out. It has been heavily restircted from the factory.

The thing about the URD Y than makes it the nicest, is that:
1 - it is 16 gauge 304 Stainless steel. (Strong)
2 - it is all mandrel bent, it doesn't have all of the kinks and reductions in size that bog down the flow.
3 - it bolts right up, and doesn't have any leaks at any of the welds.

1GRracer picked up about 30 whp and 20 wtq near the end of his rpm range. About 5700 rpms

Do this mod to the URD Y-pipe, if you have a 3" exhaust, and you will pick up even a little more hp/tq. http://www.xr-underground.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=42949
